May was full of great, groovy techno and tech house tracks! I managed to spot some really good ones and I have already tried out a few of them on the dance floor. Starting off this chart is Fur Coat’s new track ‘Pankow’, so pleasantly dark and minimal with nice with tweaky sounds and ticking hi-hats. Then we have ‘Buffalo Trace’ by New York producer MANIK from their new EP ‘Tokyo’ released on Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs’ label Nice Age.
Edu Imbernon who visited Melbourne a few weeks ago (read our interview with him here) released a great minimal tech house track with Los Suruba on Suara, showing off those Spanish music super powers. I picked out Radio Slave’s track ‘122 BPM’ from the newly released Rhythm Trainx Vol. 1 on Running Back, which consist of crazy drum patterns and loose percussion hits. The rest of this release is pretty amazing too, all named after their BPM speed.
Another track from label Suara hit the chart list this month, coming from Bastian Bux’s debut album ‘Stay’. ‘Beside’ is the second track on the EP and has a spacey, tech house sound which is quite dreamy but enticing at the same time. After this we have a tech house track called ‘Smiling At Me’ with a slow bass progression, wobbling synth sounds and fun vocals made by Jean Claude Ades & Betoko. Italian born Mike Teknii released a jackin’ house track on Antura Records called ‘Movin” with a boppy bassline and bright stabs.
I’m happy to present the first locally produced track in these chart list series. Matt Adlington from Melbourne released ‘No More’ EP on House Lab last month and the third track ‘Big Steez’ really caught my bass-loving ears. Without much fuss he delivers a dark, groovy and minimal tech house track I can’t wait to hear in a dark club room. Second last on the list is Joseph Krause’s “Green Corner” released on Yoruba Grooves with interesting claps, percussions and dark beats. Last but absolutely not the least is the track ‘Hour After Hour’ by Kollektiv Turmstrasse on their EP ‘Sry I’m Late’ on Diynamic Music. Wow, I just love this tune with it’s lightly reverberating bass synth taking over most of the track, accompanied with a brighter saw sounding synth that takes you to new places. One of my top favourites for sure from music month May 2015.
